Welcome to the ARTISANAL MINING INSTITUTE

One of the most exciting challenges facing the country today is that of finding ways and means of upgrading the skills of the population in general and skills of those people who lack formal educational qualifications in particular.

Ways must be examined in which training can contribute towards upgrading skills, improve safety, quality, production performances and competitiveness.

In today’s fast-paced world, it is not simply a case of having the necessary professional skills; people must develop interpersonal skills alongside their ability to handle the changes brought about by technological progress.

To provide these skills AMI has a vital role to play.

At AMI, we initiate, promote and conduct short term technical training, consultancy and research to artisanal as well as small scale miners in Tanzania. Such trainings are related to Geology, Mineral Processing, Mining, Environment, Occupation Health and Safety and Entrepreneurship in mining value chain.

The purpose of AMI establishment
To create a skilled group of people to stimulate local/national entrepreneurship, improve livelihoods and advance integrated rural social and economic development in artisanal and small scale mining (ASM) Communities. Training will focus on job creation and youth employment working in ASM industry specifically in ASM enterprises such as Vat leaching and Elution Plants.

A message from the Director

Principal

Thank you for visiting the AMI website. At AMI, we initiate, promote and conduct short term technical in-house and outreach training, consultancy and research to artisanal as well as small scale miners in Tanzania. Such trainings are related to Geology, Mineral Processing, Mining, Environment, Occupation Health and Safety and Entrepreneurship in mining value chain.

We are determined to make artisanal and small scale mining the second back born of the Tanzania economy after agriculture. We want the Tanzanian minerals from Development minerals to precious ones be our clients’ business. By delivering practice-based training to our clients (Artisanal as well as small scale miners) we believe that they will be conducting mining as business in a sustainable and healthy way.

Addressing complex ASM and mining related challenges in our community, is what we aspire to do in a broad, enduring sense. We are happy to be part of this journey.

On behalf of AMI, I invite you once again to explore our website and learn more about all we have to offer. I am sure you will join us in this life changing project.

Sincerely,
Andrew K. Buluba
